Man Utd defender ‘could leave’ soon with Sevilla among clubs ‘keeping tabs’ on player’s situation

Man Utd star Alex Telles

Man Utd defender Alex Telles is reportedly free to leave the club this summer and Sevilla are among the clubs interested in him.

The attacking full-back joined the Red Devils from Porto for around £15m in 2020. He barely featured during his debut season as Luke Shaw was on fire in the lead-up to last summer’s European Championships.

The Englishman’s form dipped last term though. In his defence, he was not on his own as most of United’s players were sh*t.

Shaw missed the end of last season through injury so Telles finished the campaign as their first-choice full-back.

Telles has featured for United during pre-season. He played the full 90 minutes against Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Cristiano Ronaldo made his underwhelming return and Christian Eriksen also started. The ex-Tottenham man thinks “the team feels good” ahead of Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge:

“It was very different, also when walking into the stadium,” Eriksen said about his first appearance at Old Trafford as a United player (via MUTV).

“I had to go right instead of left. But it was special, it was a nice feeling. It’s been a nice day and wearing the home shirt here is definitely a new feeling I need to get used to.

“The people were very welcoming and I had a good feeling. I feel good. The group has taken good care of me. I haven’t had that many sessions with the team, obviously as they’ve been on tour, but I’ve played a game to get some minutes in my legs and I feel good. I feel fresh. The team feels good and the whole vibe around the changing room has been very good.”

He added: “I think you play where the manager wants you to play. He puts out a team and you try to go from there. Then obviously, in some games, you come into different situations and the aim is the same, to be involved as much as possible, whether it’s as a no.10, an eight, anywhere.”

Despite his involvement on Sunday, Telles is among six players free to leave United this summer.

His exit is being accelerated after they brought in Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord earlier this summer.

Fabrizio Romano is now reporting that Telles could leave United within the next couple of weeks.

Porto are ‘not interested’ in bringing him back but Sevilla are among two or three clubs ‘keeping tabs’ on him.
