Earthquakes to Host Special Soccer Clinic with Former USWNT Player Leslie Osborne

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes today announced a special soccer clinic instructed by former United States Women’s National Team and World Cup player Leslie Osborne at PayPal Park on Friday, July 22 from 4:30-7 p.m. PT. All Quakes proceeds will be donated to local women organizations supporting reproductive rights and domestic violence.


The soccer clinic, available for boys and girls ages 5-13 of all skill levels, will take place on PayPal Park’s main pitch as they participate in training drills and receive coaching instructions from Leslie Osborne. Participants will have the opportunity to feel like a Quakes player by walking on the player bridge and through the stadium tunnel, among other activations.

In addition, each registration ticket includes a free Quakes t-shirt and a ticket voucher to a future Earthquakes home match. Participants who register before July 20 will have their names recognized on the main stadium scoreboard screen. For more information or to register, click here .

Leslie Osborne made over 60 appearances with the U.S. Women’s National Team and participated in important tournaments like in the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The Milwaukee, Wis. native is known in the Bay Area after competing for Santa Clara University at the collegiate level from 2001-04, winning the NCAA Championship in 2001 and later winning the Honda Sports Award as the nation’s outstanding collegiate female player in 2004.

Osborne’s connection to the Bay Area runs deeper than just college, as she played for FC Gold Pride in 2009 in the Women’s Professional Soccer league (WPS) in their inaugural season, before being traded to the Boston Breakers. Osborne was also one of the first players to compete in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) joining the Chicago Red Stars in 2013 before retiring from professional soccer in 2014. She is currently leading a group of investors looking to bring a NWSL expansion team to the Bay Area.
