Southampton are looking to sign Manchester City youngsters Liam Delap and Gavin Bazunu – in repeat of last summer’s swoop for Chelsea duo Tino Livramento and Armando Broja

Southampton are hoping to sign Manchester City prospects Liam Delap and Gavin Banuzu on the back of Chelsea youngster Armando Broja’s successful loan spell at the club.

The Saints acquired three of Chelsea’s brightest youngsters last summer, buying full back Tino Livramento and centre back Dynel Simeu as well as loaning Broja.

The Albanian forward has been a popular signing this season, scoring nine goals in all competitions. Only James Ward-Prowse has scored more for the Saints.

Liam Delap has struggled for game time since making his  Manchester City debut last season 

Southampton now appears to be applying the same poaching tactic to City, with 19-year-old striker Delap and 20-year-old Goalkeeper Bazunu among the Citizens’ brightest young players. 

The south coast club will need at least one new striker and one new goalkeeper as Shane Long and Fraser Forster are both likely to leave this summer, The Sun reported on Thursday.

Both Delap and Bazunu have strong links with Hampshire. Delap was born in Winchester while his father, the long-throw-in maestro Rory Delap, was playing for Southampton. 

The striker has been given limited opportunities in his two years at City and may benefit from increased game time with the Saints.
