Minnesota United FC vs. LA Galaxy Preview

Minnesota United FC at Forward Madison Preview

May 18, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – Minnesota United FC News Release

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. – Sunday’s showdown in Seattle ended in a tough 3-1 loss for the Loons. The Loons will regroup and be back in action again with a mid-week matchup against the LA Galaxy, and welcome back former MNUFC defender Chase Gasper. As of late, the Galaxy has struggled to score in league games, with only three goals in their last five matches. In their most recent, the game ended in a 3-3 draw that sent MNUFC into the postseason but ended LA’s season in dramatic fashion. After a tough loss out West, the Loons will need to recover quickly to get back in the win column against the Galaxy.

ADRIAN HEATH ON THE LA GALAXY DEFENSE

“I think also, if you look at them, they’ve maybe been a touch inconsistent. But the one thing I do know, and if we don’t play well, and we allow them time to play, play in our half, counter attack, we don’t do good at preventative marking, they have too many good attacking pieces that they won’t cause you trouble. I’m sure that when Greg [Vanney] looks back at it he’ll be disappointed with a couple of goals they’ve conceded against Dallas, but overall, it’s been a good start from them and nothing more than we expected. They’ve got really good attacking pieces and if they can shore up the backline like they’ve done the majority of this season then it’s a pretty formidable group of players they’ve got.”

WIL TRAPP ON FACING THE LA GALAXY

“It’s massive. First and foremost from the perspective of getting us back on the right track. Winning a game at home in front of our fans. I think it will allow us to kind of let go of what the past three games in the league have been and move forward into a tough game which will be in Dallas. But understanding that the next three or four games coming up are not easy, we have to take it one game at a time.”
