Mikel Arteta has called for referees to “come in front of a camera and explain” their decisions following Arsenal’s 3-0 loss at Tottenham.

The Gunners had a horrific evening against their north London rivals as the race for a top-four finish was blown wide open.

After a positive start, Cedric Soares fouled Heung-min Son in the box to concede a penalty that Harry Kane tucked away with no qualms.

Kane doubled his side’s lead after Rob Holding was given a second yellow card amidst a fiery start from the English centre-half.

Son wrapped up the win for Spurs within two minutes of the restart. Antonio Conte’s men are now one point behind Arsenal in fourth with two games remaining.

Arsenal boss Arteta was left fuming with referee Paul Tierney and said after the game that he cannot say what he thinks about the officiating because he would be “suspended for six months” if he did.

The Spaniard told Sky Sports: “If I say what I think I’m suspended for six months. I’m allowed to give my interpretation on the game but I don’t like to lie so I’d prefer not to say.

“With my players, I’m so proud of my players. You can ask the referee to come in front of the camera and explain his decisions. I make mine. That’s his decision. A beautiful game was destroyed today.
