Pep Guardiola uses five words to describe Kevin De Bruyne after four-goal supershow at Wolves

Pep Guardiola Wolves v Man City

Pep Guardiola reeled off the superlatives after watching Kevin De Bruyne score four times in Manchester City’s 5-1 rout of Wolves that moved them three points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

The brilliant Belgian claimed a hat-trick inside 24 minutes at Molineux – his first treble since 2011 – and added a fourth after the break for a rampant City side.

Leander Dendoncker had levelled for Wolves in the 11th minute but it was one-way traffic after that for Pep Guardiola’s men, who could effectively seal the title on Sunday with victory at West Ham due to their superior goal difference over rivals Liverpool.

Raheem Sterling put gloss on the scoreline with a fifth in the 84th minute to take City onto 89 points, three ahead of the Reds and with a goal difference of +72 in comparison to 65 for the second-placed outfit, who play in the FA Cup final this weekend.

When asked if Kevin de Bruyne produced one of the best midfield displays: “Absolutely. He made quite often in the last this season, especially in the second half he has made similar displays today but today he scored four goals. Unstoppable, brilliant, awesome, outstanding, perfect.

“He had the ability to create the special things.

“Always we push him to say he is incredible player, generous with assists but he has to score goals and this season is the most prolific he has had since we are together.”

The Molineux rout increased City’s goal difference to seven better than Liverpool, but Guardiola chose to play down that stat.

He added: “The target is next game. If we win the next two games we will be champions. Now recover the players and play a final, the final for us is against West Ham.”
