Former Arsenal player warns Arteta to stay away from Paulo Dybala as Juventus striker ‘isn’t the answer’

Former Arsenal player Kevin Campbell thinks the club shouldn’t go for Juventus star Paulo Dybala as they “can’t take risks anymore”.

There’s no hiding from the fact that Arsenal’s top priority this summer is to sign a striker to lead their attack. The club only have two senior centre-forwards at their disposal in Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah.

Both are out of contract in summer, which leaves Mikel Arteta in a bit of a pickle.

Negotiations have also reportedly not begun with either of the players. Interest is already being shown in Nketiah’s services from elsewhere in the Premier League.

To fill the potential gap, the club have been linked with Juventus striker Paulo Dybala, who is also out of contract this summer.

The Argentine is set to leave the Old Lady after the Italian club confirmed his contract wouldn’t be renewed.

“With the arrival of Dusan Vlahovic, the footballing structure at the club has changed,” said Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene in March.

“Juventus’ project has changed and part of this change included Dybala’s contract which today was not renewed.

“It would have been easy for Juventus to make a much-reduced offer but it would have been disrespectful to Paulo.”

Why Campbell thinks signing Dybala is risky

Arsenal are one of the contenders to take Dybala when he enters free agency. But Campbell has outlined one main reason why Arteta and his team should refrain from signing the 28-year-old.

“I don’t think Arsenal can afford to take risks anymore. They have to get players in who are going to be fit and ready to go,” Campbell said to Football Insider.

“If you are coming with an injury record, Arsenal isn’t the place to come. It seems that injury problems are always exposed at Arsenal.

“Injuries are part and parcel of the game but I think Arteta and Edu should go younger, quicker and fitter. Dybala isn’t the answer.”
