Incoming Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag has put Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries at the top of his list of summer targets, according to reports.
The Dutchman will take over as the new permanent Red Devils manager at the end of the season once his Eredivisie campaign with Ajax has come to an end.
It was claimed in the Daily Telegraph this week that Ten Hag has ‘already identified a core of roughly eight players that he feels he can trust and build around’ but the future of all other players at Man Utd seems to be up in the air.

Ten Hag will have Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot to call on next season as his right-back options although BBC Sport claimed yesterday that Crystal Palace are interested in re-signing the former this summer.
And that could pave the way for Man Utd to invest in a new right-back this summer with Italian publication Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) insisting that Inter Milan defender Dumfries is now ‘top of his preferences’.
Ajax right-back Noussair Mazraoui had been Ten Hag’s ‘goal’ for the Dutchman’s first transfer window as Red Devils boss but, with Dumfries now available, the new manager at Old Trafford has changed his mind.
It is understood that Dumfries is ‘today worth at least €20m more’ than the €15m that Inter Milan paid PSV Eindhoven for his services just last summer.
Meanwhile, Man Utd interim boss Ralf Rangnick thinks the club needs to sign two “modern strikers” in the summer transfer window.
“Cristiano isn’t a central striker or does not want to play in that position,” Rangnick said. “It’s obvious the club needs at least two new strikers who give this team more quality and more options. I wouldn’t even call it wingers.
