Malcolm Ebiowei transfer battle heating up as Tottenham and Leeds United line up offers

Malcolm Ebiowei after a Derby County match

Tottenham, Leeds and Fulham are among a host of teams lining up summer moves for Derby County wonderkid Malcolm Ebiowei, according to a report.

The winger is out of contract at the end of this season. It seems unlikely that he is going to stay with the Rams for their upcoming League One rebuild.

Wayne Rooney has managed Derby since the start of the season. He attempted to perform a great escape in order to secure the Rams’ Championship stature.

However, it unfortunately was not meant to be for Derby. They will play next season in the third tier of English football.

There have however been some positives from this season that Rooney can take with him into League One, such as their talented academy graduates performing to a high standard in the Championship.

In January, Crystal Palace snapped up Ebiowei’s teammate Luke Plange before allowing him to return to Derby on loan.

The teams in question are looking to bolster their academies and secure Ebiowei’s services as he develops and matures into a better player.

Although as Ebiowei is only 18, if a team does sign him, they will have to pay a compensation fee due to his age. The three teams that will receive a portion of the fee are Derby, Rangers and Arsenal, whose academies he developed in.
