First Arsenal exit nearing completion as talks ‘accelerate’ for €15m Lucas Torreira windfall from Fiorentina transfer

Lucas Torreira playing for Fiorentina

Lucas Torreira could be about to end his association with Arsenal, as loan club Fiorentina are ready to ramp up negotiations for a permanent transfer.

Torreira signed for Arsenal from Sampdoria in 2018, staying for two seasons. He made 89 appearances in that time, but was allowed to leave in 2020. He first endured a frustrating season on loan at Atletico Madrid – with whom he won La Liga as a bit-part player.

Torreira to stay settled with Fiorentina

The windfall, although not particularly large, will go some way to helping Arsenal reinvest. Ahead of their return to European football – potentially the Champions League – it will be important for them to find squad depth in all areas.

Torreira’s position of defensive midfield is somewhere they may want to…
