Prem duo looks to snatch Tottenham ace Cameron Carter-Vickers from grasp of potential suitor

Cameron Carter-Vickers, Tottenham, July 2021.

Fulham and Southampton have joined the race for Tottenham player Cameron Carter-Vickers, reportedly of interest to Celtic, where he is on loan.

Carter-Vickers has played just five games for Spurs since the start of his career. He has been loaned out to a few sides, and has had relative success.

The centre-back spent part of last season with Bournemouth, who made the Championship play-offs. He scored one goal and contributed to five clean sheets in the league.

He also assisted Bournemouth’s only goal in their 3-1 loss in the play-off semi-final.

Carter-Vickers has spent this season in Scotland, with Celtic. He has played 28 league games, scoring four goals and providing an assist, as well as featuring five times in the Europa League.

Recent reports have stated Celtic are keen on making his transfer permanent. The defender has been crucial in their league success, with the Hoops edging closer to the title.

However, Fulham and Southampton are the latest teams keen on stopping that move in its tracks.

90min reports that the pair have entered the race for the American international’s signature.

They have joined a host of Premier League clubs reported to be keen on him.

Celtic do have an option to buy Carter-Vickers at the end of his loan period.

Prem interest could sway Carter-Vickers

While Celtic appear keen to land Carter-Vickers, the report states that he could be swayed against joining them. Fulham and Southampton are the latest in a long line of reportedly interested Premier League clubs.

Also apparently keen on him are Watford, Wolves and Leicester City.

A place in a Premier League side could be an attractive prospect to the Spurs man. Indeed, it seems as if the north Londoners have no aspirations to elevate him into the squad.

But given he has been at the side for so long, it is likely he has ambitions of playing in the Premier League.

As such, his spell at Celtic may prove to be nothing more than a stepping stone to bigger things.
