West Ham are monitoring Burnley’s Nick Pope as they finalise their goalkeeping plans for next season.

The Europa League semi-finalists have shortlisted Pope, who impressed against the Hammers in Sunday’s 1-1 draw, as a potential alternative to current No 2 Alphonse Areola.

Areola has spent the season on loan at West Ham from Paris Saint-Germain as back-up and competition for Lukasz Fabianski, featuring 16 times with all but one of those appearances being in the cup competitions.

West Ham have a £10m option to buy the Frenchman who earns around £120,000-per-week at PSG, a salary that would put him right near the top of the East Londoners’ pay structure.

Areola has also been earmarked as a target by Fulham who are on the verge of sealing a return to the Premier League.

He spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Craven Cottage but was unable to prevent them suffering relegation to the Championship.

England stopper Pope has emerged as another option being considered by West Ham.
