Liverpool are ‘ready to battle’ for the signature of Torino ace Gleison Bremer after a report revealed why Man Utd were ‘scared off’.

The centre-half, 25, has been one of the standout defenders in Serie A this season. Bremer has started all but two of Torino’s league matches this season, missing out through an ankle injury and yellow card suspension respectively.

The Brazilian has become the anchor on Torino’s three-man backline and has been a key component in their impressive defensive record.

Indeed, Torino have conceded just 30 goals in 31 matches this season – a figure good enough for fifth-best in Serie A.

What makes that statistic all the more impressive is the fact Torino are 11th in the table. Their latest defensive masterclass came on Sunday when they kept a clean sheet against table-topping AC Milan.

Bremer’s heroics in Turin have predictably led to a swathe of transfer interest.

Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea and Tottenham have all drawn links through one outlet or another.

However, according to two reports, it is Liverpool that look the likeliest suitor to pounce at present.

Firstly, Brazilian publication O Tempo claim Bremer ‘interests’ the Reds. They – along with Inter Milan – are deemed the two clubs with the greatest interest in signing Bremer.

Secondly, Italian outlet TuttoJuve state Liverpool are ‘ready to battle’ for the Brazilian.
