Jurgen Klopp reveals definitive Trent Alexander-Arnold return timeline, but new setback for second Liverpool star

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold will return to team training on Friday following a hamstring injury.

The right-back suffered the issue before the international break. Klopp subsequently admitted that his star creative force was facing “weeks” on the sidelines, amid his side’s quest for a quadruple of trophies.

Alexander-Arnold therefore missed England’s matches against Switzerland and the Ivory Coast.

The 23-year-old instead travelled to Dubai to focus on his rehabilitation. And ahead of Saturday’s return with a Premier League clash against Watford, Klopp confirmed the massive boost that the right-back is in contention.

“Trent trained yesterday in parts and will be in full training today,” the manager told his pre-match press conference.

“We have to see what we do with it. Trent wanted to go to the national team, just to make sure that everybody is aware. But he couldn’t.

“If you saw the scans, you cannot go anywhere, but sometimes injuries – thank God – are not that serious that you are out for five or six weeks. So that’s the case with Trent.

“It will be tight for tomorrow but it will be possible after all I’ve heard. He was really with our rehab and fitness department, it was really intense what he did [before] team training. Physically he should be fine, we just have to make the decision about rhythm.”

Watford are the first of eight games in Liverpool‘s packed April schedule.
