‘He’s a proper player’ – Klopp lauds Liverpool matchwinner Jota after giving Forest ‘massive compliment’

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp labelled Liverpool matchwinner Diogo Jota a “proper striker”, and hailed Nottingham Forest and their manager after being pushed to the limit.

Liverpool kept their quadruple hopes alive after surviving an almighty scare at the City Ground. Nottingham Forest gave as good as they got throughout the entire 90 minutes and came within a whisker of taking the lead themselves just moments before Diogo Jota put the Reds in front.

But where Forest failed, Jota succeeded when the Portuguese grabbed yet another vital goal in what could be a historic season at Anfield.

The draw for the FA Cup semi-finals took place earlier today with Liverpool handed a tie against Man City. That fixture will take place just one week after the pair’s all-important Premier League clash.

Regarding Jota’s winner, Klopp was fulsome with his praise.

“It was a difficult one to finish off,” added the German, “He is a proper striker. Absolutely great.”
