The Lionesses make history and are f***ing European champions

England beat Germany

Chloe Kelly scored the winning goal for England in extra-time as they edged out Germany to become European Champions.

Germany were dealt a blow shortly before kick-off as top scorer Alexandra Popp picked up an injury in the warm-up.

There was very little between the sides during the opening half. England’s best chance came as Ellen White fired over the bar from inside the penalty area in the 38th minute.

England women are superb but they are all white: Why? And should this be ‘fixed’?

Sarina Wiegman’s substitutions have made an impact throughout this tournament and one of her changes worked a treat at Wembley.

This came as Toone opened the scoring in the 62nd minute after being found via Kiera Walsh’s sensational through ball.

Toone converted in superb fashion as she lobbed Germany goalkeeper Merle Frohms from the edge of the box.

Germany came close to equalising minutes later as Lina Magull’s fierce shot was tipped onto the post by England ‘keeper Mary Earps.

England did let in an equaliser in the 79th minute, though. Tabea Wassmuth squared the ball to Magull, who got in front of Leah Williamson before finding the net from close range.

The Lionesses regained the lead in the 11oth minute. The goal came via a corner from Lauren Hemp.

The ball fell to Chloe Kelly inside the six years box and she was able to poke the ball home at the second attempt.

England hung onto to the final whistle to become European Champions for the first time in their history.
