Man Utd are a ‘major interested party’ with £12.6m target ‘sitting on packed suitcases’

Man Utd target Brian Brobbey joins in with pre-season training

RB Leipzig striker Brian Brobbey is ready to leave the club this summer with Man Utd and Ajax interested in his services, according to reports.

He contributed an impressive seven goals and one assist in just 397 minutes of Eredivisie football last season after spending the second half of the season on loan at Ajax.

It was new Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag that handed him his Ajax debut in 2020 but the 20-year-old left for RB Leipzig on a free transfer after his first senior season at the Dutch club.

However, after making just one Bundesliga start for Leipzig, he moved back to Ajax on loan in January and played 13 matches in all competitions.

When it was announced that Ten Hag was leaving Ajax for Man Utd in April, Brobbey joked that he hoped his compatriot could take him to Old Trafford with him.

He said: “I am very happy for him and he really deserves it after everything he has done for Ajax. If only he brings me with him in two years…. no no.. joking joking!”

But he could now seriously end up there with BILD (via Sport Witness) claiming that Man Utd are a ‘major interested party’ as well as Ajax, who want to bring him back to the Netherlands again.

It is understood that Brobbey doesn’t mind where he moves to this summer but that he is ‘desperate to leave’ Leipzig with Sky Germany insisting he has ‘reluctantly’ joining them on their pre-season training camp.

BILD claim that Man Utd or Ajax would need to fork out €15m (£12.6m) to get a deal over the line for Brobbey with Leipzig open to a sale this summer.

A report yesterday claimed that the Red Devils are looking to bring in a couple of forwards this summer, especially if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves the club.

Reports have claimed that the Portugal international wants to leave Old Trafford this summer but a lack of interest could end his hopes of leaving.

And Ten Hag insisted earlier this week that Ronaldo was “not for sale” with the striker part of his plans for the new season at Man Utd.
