Academy: FC Cincinnati U13 and U14 Squads to Compete at 2022 Patterson Cup

June 16, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS)FC Cincinnati News Release

FC Cincinnati return to game action after three weeks to take on Philadelphia Union. Kickoff from Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania on Saturday, June 18 is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.

Let’s take a look at this matchup, by the numbers.

0.71

Philadelphia Union leads MLS with a 0.71 goals-against-average (GAA), the best mark in the league. The Union have conceded 10 goals this season, which is tied with New York City FC for the fewest in MLS. However, the Union’s GAA is slightly better than the defending MLS Cup Champions based on playing one more game than NYCFC.

The Union have lost just once this season, a feat no other club in MLS can claim this season. In fact, no other club aside from Philadelphia has lost fewer than three times in 2022.

1

Sticking with the number one, and another impressive statistic for Jim Curtin’s squad. Through 14 games the Union have trailed going into halftime only once this season. Their record in those games? 1-0-0.

12

In their last 12 regular season games at Subaru Park, the Union are undefeated with an 8-0-4 record. Their last loss at home dates back to September 3 of last season, a 1-0 loss to Supporters’ Shield winners New England Revolution.

This season, the Union hold a 3-0-4 record at Subaru Park and have tied three consecutive home games. Saturday will mark exactly one month since the Union last played a home game, a 0-0 result against Inter Miami CF on May 18.

80.8

Key to Philadelphia’s stingy defense is their goalkeeper Andre Blake. His 80.8 save percentage is best in MLS this season.

The Jamaican international has recorded 56 career clean sheets for the Union in MLS regular season competition, including six this season.

221

Ray Gaddis returns to Philadelphia for the first time as a member of the visiting team. From 2012-20, Gaddis made 221 appearances for the Union, which is the most in Philadelphia’s franchise history. His 211 starts among those appearances are also a club record.

Next closest in club history behind him? The previously mentioned Andre Blake, who has made 185 appearances (and starts) for the Union entering Saturday night’s game.

By The Numbers is presented by CTI.
