Forge FC announced Thursday, the club has signed Ghanaian attacker Nana Opoku Ampomah to a multi-year contract.
“We are excited to have a player as experienced as Nana join the club,” said Bobby Smyrniotis, Head Coach & Sporting Director of Forge FC “He is an explosive attacker who has played and contributed across Europe’s top leagues and competitions. His presence on the pitch and ability to generate offence adds a unique dimension to our attack that will surely make an immediate impact.”
Ampomah, 28, joins the Forge FC from German side Fortuna Düsseldorf bringing over a vast amount of European and international experience. The dynamic attacker spent three seasons with club (2019-2023) making 26 appearances across all competitions including 12 appearances in the Bundesliga (German First Division), tallying five goals and one assist. During his time with Düsseldorf Ampomah was loaned out to Belgian Side Royal Antwerp in 2021 to help the club in its Europa League run making 24 appearances including seven in Europa League competition. The Ghanaian international earned a transfer to Fortuna Düsseldorf from Belgian side Waasland-Beveren after playing four seasons with the club (2016-2019) making 88 appearances and recording 19 goals and 11 assists. Internationally, Ampomah has been capped by Ghana making one appearance in World Cup qualification, one appearance in African Cup of Nations Qualification, and two friendly appearances.
