Manchester United are one of several clubs interested in a promising teenage midfielder from Sweden, according to his club’s sporting director. 

Otto Rosengren, 19, has been an outstanding performer for Allsvenskan side Mjallby AIF in Sweden’s top flight, and it has attracted attention from Holland, Denmark and Erik ten Hag‘s Premier League side.

Mjallby’s sporting director Hans Larsson refused to rule out selling the promising youngster, believing that the attention of the Red Devils showed that Rosengren was moving in the right direction.  

Larsson told Tipsbladet: ‘There have been some Danish, English and a Dutch club looking at him. Viborg, AGF and Manchester United, among others, have been looking at him.

‘There is nothing concrete about him. There have been some rumours, and then several clubs have looked at him.’

Larsson explained that he does not know if the side will let Rosengren leave in the summer transfer window – which is mid-season in Sweden. Larsson said: ‘We must wait and see. It’s his first year as a real first-team player in Allsvenskan, and I’m not so sure he wants to leave either. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.’

In a separate interview with Fotbollskanalaen, Larsson said that while he had never met anyone from Man United, they had been to visit several times. The sporting director said the interest from the Premier League club was ‘really nice’, adding: ‘It’s a sign that Mjallby are working properly, and he’s their own product, so it’s wonderful.’
