Johnson Named Finalist For MAC Hermann Trophy

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Syracuse senior forward Levonte Johnson is a finalist for the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy, the highest individual honor in collegiate soccer. Johnson is Syracuse’s second MAC Hermann Trophy finalist, as goalkeeper and Baldwinsville, New York native Alex Bono was named a finalist in 2014. A Syracuse student-athlete has never won the MAC Hermann Trophy. The winner will be announced on Friday, January 6^th.

Johnson’s fellow finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy are Creighton’s Duncan McGuire and Duke’s Peter Stroud.

A native of Brampton, Ontario, Johnson was a pivotal attacking threat for the Orange on their way to the program’s first ever NCAA National Championship, sending Syracuse to the NCAA College Cup Final with an 86^th minute winner against

Creighton in a 3-2 win. The senior forward scored 11 goals, tallied six assists, and registered 28 points this season. Johnson finished second in the Atlantic Coast Conference in points and goals, along with scoring a national leading eight match-winning goals.

Along with MAC Hermann Trophy finalist honors, Johnson has also earned several individual accolades this season. The senior forward was named United Soccer Coaches first team All-America, the first All-America First Team selection at Syracuse since Miles Robinson in 2016. Johnson also garnered All-ACC First Team and All-South Region First Team honors.

Johnson arrived to Syracuse in the spring of 2021 via the transfer portal. The Canadian attacker played the 2021 season at Seattle University. He kickstarted his college career at the junior-college level before making the jump to Division I in 2021.
