Soccer Opens SEC Play Against Texas A&M


COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri soccer opens Southeastern Conference play against Texas A&M at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will be broadcast on SEC Network.

The Tigers finished the nonconference slate at 2-4-1 following a loss to Duke on Sept. 12.

Senior midfielder Milena Fischer leads the Tigers with a pair of goals on the season.

In total, eight different Tigers have scored this season with Fischer, Kylee Simmons, Leah Selm, Landis Canada, Bella Carillo, Monica Brauner, Brianna Buels and Keegan Good.

Simmons, who led the Tigers and the SEC with 11 goals a season ago, notched her first goal in a 5-0 route of SEMO on Sept. 8.

Redshirt freshman Monica Brauner has started the last two matches in what marked the first starts of her career. She scored her first career against the Redhawks.

Freshman Landis Canada has made a significant impact this season starting every contest. Fellow freshman Emily Derucki has totaled 308 minutes on the year.

Texas A&M enters Thursday at 5-3 and is 11th in the SEC standings.

The Aggies are coached by G Guerrieri who is in his 32nd year on the sidelines in College Station. Guerrieri has complied a 499-167-51 record while leading the program to 16 Sweet Sixteens, seven Elite Eights and the 2014 NCAA Women’s College Cup.

The Aggies’ roster is headlined by junior Sydney Becerra who has scored three goals on the season.

The two teams have met 28 times previously with Texas A&M leading the series 18-6-4. The last matchup came two years ago with a 1-1 tie on Oct. 23, 2022.

Admission is free to all Missouri home games this season.
