Duke Travels to Raleigh for Meeting with NC State


DURHAM, N.C. – Duke men’s soccer (3-2-2, 1-1-1 ACC) travels to Raleigh, N.C., for a match with NC State (5-1-2, 1-1-0 ACC) at the Dail Soccer Complex. The match will be broadcast on ACCNX, and kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
MATCHUP NOTES

  • Duke and NC State meet again on the pitch this weekend, as the Blue Devils travel to Raleigh, N.C., for a 6 p.m. kickoff at Dail Soccer Stadium. 
  • The Blue Devils lead the all-time series against the Wolfpack 55-21-9, winning the previous matchup in 2023 at Koskinen Stadium, 2-1. 
  • Duke is coming off an impressive draw on the road at No. 1 Stanford, while the Wolfpack fell to North Carolina, 2-0 last week.

 
BY THE NUMBERS
14 – Goals scored against Averett at Koskinen Stadium tied a program record for most goals scored in a single contest.
10 – Duke has won 10-plus contests in 10 of the 16 completed seasons under Kerr.
7 – Seven different Blue Devils registered their first career goals in 2024, including five against Averett.
3 – Graduate Adam Luckhurst tallied three goals against Averett netting his first career hat trick in his first game in Koskinen Stadium.  

FIRST TOUCH

  • Sophomore Ulfur Bjornsson tallied his seventh goal of the season on Sunday evening, giving Duke the lead in the 44th minute. He now has accumulated 17 career goals in his two seasons with Duke and leads the way in goals, points, and shots this season.
  • Graduate Adam Luckhurst continues to have a hot foot, scoring his fifth goal in four matches. Luckhurst doubled the Duke lead in the 55th minute, heading a ball into the bottom left corner. Luckhurst scored a hat trick against Averett, crossed the ball across the front of the net against Virginia resulting in an own goal, and scored against North Carolina and Stanford.

 
A TRIP TO THE FARM

  • Duke took its second trip to the West Coast this past weekend and first on The Farm as a new ACC member. The Blue Devils weathered a storm from No. 1 Stanford in the second half, holding on for a 2-2 draw and earning a hard-fought point.
  • Sophomore Ulfur Bjornsson and graduate Adam Luckhurst tallied goals in the result out West, as graduate Wessel Speel tallied three saves. Duke is now 1-0-2 in California, defeating UC San Diego and drawing San Diego and Stanford.
