Leagues Cup 2024 is all set to kick-off at the end of the week, and that means that there are a handful of players to keep an eye on throughout the month-long tournament.

Given that Leagues Cup is between 47 clubs from both Liga MX and Major League Soccer, there are so many players that are destined to show up and show out once the ball gets rolling Friday night. However, there are a select handful of players that have recently joined new teams in the transfer window that will hope to impress in the upcoming competition.

Here are five players to watch at Leagues Cup 2024.

Pedro de la Vega is an absolute game-changer for Seattle Sounders who really hasn’t had the opportunity to get into a good run of form due to injuries. Should those injury problems be a thing of the past, De la Vega is certainly a player who could propel the Sounders to a deep run in the competition.

Cade Cowell

Cade Cowell struggled initially after joining Liga MX’s Chivas de Guadelajara from San Jose Earthquakes, but the 20-year-old has silenced his critics so far in the current Apertura campaign. To make things even more interesting, Cowell will not want to disappoint when he takes on his former club San Jose in the Group Stage of Leagues Cup.

In just three appearances with Club Leon, Jhonder Cadiz has hit the ground running with three goals in the 2024 Liga MX Apertura. The 28-year-old looks to be in the prime of his career and could propel Leon to a deep run in Leagues Cup as one of the competition’s top goalscorers.

Austin FC made a splash in the transfer market with the signing of Osman Bukari, and the 25-year-old winger has all the tools to be one of the top wide players in all of MLS. Bukari made his debut this past weekend and gave fans a glimpse of what’s to come in Leagues Cup.

Many will be keeping a close eye on LAFC’s new striker that is the iconic Olivier Giroud to see how the veteran Frenchman gets on at Leagues Cup. The Black and Gold’s No. 9 was included in the team’s Leagues Cup roster and could make his debut later on in the competition should LAFC stay alive in the latter stages.
