HOUSTON – Houston Dynamo FC midfielder Latif Blessing was named to the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday for Matchday 21, the league announced today.

The Dynamo earned a 2-2 draw versus Seattle Sounders FC at Shell Energy Stadium on Wednesday in a match that included two goals from Blessing.

The midfielder scored in the 30th and 39th minutes to bring his goal tally to five over the last five matches. Blessing’s current career season high came in 2019 when he scored six goals with LAFC, and Wednesday also marked the midfielder’s first match scoring two goals since August of that season. As a team, the Dynamo have now scored nine goals across the last four matches.

Blessing is the 11th Dynamo player to be named to the Team of the Matchday this season and is joined by Franco Escobar (Matchday 7 and 20), Héctor Herrera (Matchday 18 and 13), Andrew Tarbell (Matchday 17), Amine Bassi (Matchday 17), Erik Sviatchenko (Matchday 15), Griffin Dorsey (Matchday 13), Ethan Bartlow (Matchday 9), Artur (Matchday 7), Brad Smith (Matchday 6) and Aliyu Ibrahim (Matchday 5). Head coach Ben Olsen was also named to the team for Matchday 9 after Houston’s 2-1 victory at Minnesota United FC.

Houston wraps the week with a road trip to D.C. United on Saturday, June 22 in what will be Ben Olsen’s first match as an MLS head coach in the nation’s capital since departing in 2020.
