SEATTLE – The Washington men’s soccer team went toe-to-toe with No. 8 Wisconsin and gave the Badgers all they could handle Saturday night on Montlake but the two sides ultimately couldn’t be split and they shared the points in a hard fought Big Ten match at Husky Soccer Stadium.
The Huskies owned a narrow 8-6 advantage in terms of shots on the night, though both teams posted just two attempts on target. Jadon Bowton made both stops required of him to earn his third clean sheet of the season.
While a good portion of the first half was a cagey affair, the Huskies started to gain momentum as the half wore on and as the intermission neared, Washington had the better of the play.
UW’s best look came in the 38th minute from the corner flag as Peter Kingston played Rhys Gourdie near the top of the 18. Gourdie’s touch was clean to setup a shot on his right but the Scottish international’s hit was caught by Wisconsin keeper Matisse Hebert.
The Huskies came out of the halftime break remaining on the front foot but just like the first 45, struggled to put an attack together to fully test the Badger back line.
