Real Madrid hero delivers worrying update on permanent transfer

Joselu admitted he is unsure where he will be playing his football next season, with the Spain international visibly emotional in the aftermath of Real Madrid’s Champions League triumph over Borussia Dortmund.

Joselu made a late appearance at Wembley Stadium as a substitute for Jude Bellingham as goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior secured a 2-0 victory on Saturday night.

When the final whistle was blown, the striker was spotted returning to the sidelines and making his way towards the crowd to embrace his son, who was overcome with tears of joy.

The 34-year-old is currently on loan from Espanyol and, despite Madrid having a €1.5m buy option, his return to the Blanquiazules is anticipated given the imminent arrivals of Endrick and Kylian Mbappe.

Speaking on his future, Joselu said: “I don’t know where I will be next season. We will [have to] talk about that.

“I see my son crying, I’m so emotional…if you can dream it, sometimes you can do it.”

Joselu’s brace against Bayern Munich secured Madrid’s spot at Wembley, with Los Blancos triumphing 4-3 on aggregate against the German giants in the semi-finals. He also grabbed a brace against Union Berlin in the group stage, where he also bagged in the 4-2 win over Napoli.

The Spaniard played for Stoke City from 2015 to 2017 and managed just four goals in 27 games and later featured for Newcastle United, where he found the back of the net seven times in 52 outings.

He found a more consistent streak at Alaves, where he scored 36 La Liga goals across three seasons before their relegation in 2022. Joselu then bagged 16 league strikes for Espanyol before Madrid picked him up on loan to provide a more natural striker alternative to Vinicius and Rodrygo for manager Carlo Ancelotti.
