Monaco open talks for Armando Broja

This summer is bound to be another interesting one for Chelsea Football Club.

It’s believed that the Blues will need to sell a number of players again in order to fall on the right side of Financial Fair Play, and that will be something that new manager-elect, Enzo Maresca, will arguably have to get used to.

The Italian takes over from Mauricio Pochettino, and just as the Argentine found during his tenure, no player is off limits in terms of a sale, if it means Todd Boehly and his board can dig themselves out of a hole.

For some while now it’s been believed that the Blues will cash in on their captain, Conor Gallagher, one of the club’s best players during 2023/24.

Is it any wonder then that Poch decided to walk rather than hang around to supervise another fire sale of players that he will have wanted to keep.

Continuity isn’t achieved by consistently moving players around like pawns.

Monaco want Chelsea ace Armando Broja

In any event, one player that has never really succeeded at the club, try as he might, is Armando Broja.

The 22-year-old has been at Chelsea since 2009, a couple of loan spells away notwithstanding, but hasn’t managed to impose himself on the first team at any stage.

Loaned to Fulham last season, the Cottagers won’t be taking up their option on him, but it’s not all bad news as L’Equipe (subscription required) report that AS Monaco are keen to tie up a deal for the striker.

Chelsea are set to sell Armando Broja to Monaco

The outlet note that talks with Chelsea are advanced, as the club want to ensure that they have a replacement in place for the outgoing Wissam Ben Yedder.

It would be a magnificent opportunity for the player and any monies earned will help Chelsea with FFP given Broja’s former academy status.
