PITTSBURGH – North Carolina FC earned a point on the road with a 1-1 draw against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC Saturday night at Highmark Stadium. Evan Conway scored the goal to help NCFC move to 11 points on the season with a 2-4-5 record.

“I’m proud of the way we fought and took a well earned point on the road. Our second half energy was fantastic and we have to build on this to play complete games and make sure we bring our best effort and intensity from the first whistle. We’ll look forward to building on this as we prepare to travel to Miami this coming week,” said Head Coach John Bradford.

Pittsburgh took the lead just before the halftime whistle when Langston Blackstock played a ball through to Edward Kizza to slot into an empty net in the 44′ to break the deadlock.

North Carolina FC equalized on an Evan Conway goal shortly after halftime. Louis Perez played a brilliant left-footed cross in the run of play, which found Conway in the middle of the box as he rose for the header to strike for his first goal of the season.

Oalex Anderson had a brilliant look at goal in the 83′ after some good footwork to get space, but was denied by the Pittsburgh keeper in the end. North Carolina pushed for a leading goal and earned a corner at the close of extra time but settled for a point on the road.

Match Notes:

Raheem Somersall made his 100th USL appearance Saturday night.
