Utah Royals News Release

HERRIMAN, Utah – Utah Royals FC (1-6-1, 4 pts, 14th NWSL) face Chicago Red Stars FC (4-3-1, 13 pts, 5th NWSL) this Sunday at Seatgeek Stadium with kickoff slated for 3:30pm MT.

The Royals are coming off a 2-0 loss at the hands of San Diego Wave FC in California but will be looking to bounce back against Chicago Red Stars who managed to beat Bay FC 2-1 on May 5. In the first meeting between the Red Stars and the Royals, Chicago claimed a 2-0 victory in the season opener in Utah behind goals from Ally Schlegal and Ava Cook.

Despite the tough start to the season for Utah, the squad has been able to keep spirits high as the project coalesces. For the first time this season, the Royals are facing a side that they have already played against and will be looking to exploit weaknesses that they were unable to in the first matchup. The team now has 8 matches under their collective belts, and the chemistry off the pitch is starting to present itself on the pitch. Forwards Hannah Betfort and Ally Sentnor both had chances to find the back of the net on Wednesday against San Diego, but the former rattled the crossbar while the latter was stopped by a brilliant piece of last-ditch defending.
