OTTAWA, ON – Atlético Ottawa has today announced the signing of Spanish defender Dani Morer on loan until the end of the 2024 Canadian Premier League (CPL) season. Morer joins from Portugal’s top-flight side Famalicão, having come through Barcelona’s famed soccer academy.

“Dani is a player who will help us have more depth on the right side of our squad. Despite being a defender, he stands out for his dynamism, technical ability and understanding of the game in the offensive phase. He has the ability to play in different positions and we hope to get the best out of him so that he can help us achieve our goals,” said Carlos González, Head Coach, Atlético Ottawa.

Morer was formed in Barcelona’s famed academy, La Masia, for six years before graduating to Barcelona B and featuring in the second Spanish division for three seasons (42 appearances, 2 goals, 5 assists). In 2020 the 26-year-old joined Famalicão in the top Portuguese division (alongside Atlético striker Rubén del Campo) and most recently spent the last two years on loan with FC Andorra. At the youth international level, Morer represented Spain (10 appearances, Spani under-17s).

As Atlético Ottawa continues to chart further success in the capital, fans who are eager to secure their part can join the Atleti Family by purchasing their Season Seat Membership now. Full details on benefits and perks are available at atleticoottawa.club.
