Vancouver FC News Release

Langley, BC – Vancouver continues their first road trip of the season with a visit to York United FC on Friday, Apr. 26 at 4 p.m. PT at York Lions Stadium.

MATCH STORYLINES:

History was Written: VFC is heading to York Lions Stadium which holds special memory for the fledgling organization as the place where the Eagles scored their first goal by Shaan Hundal and went on to register their first victory in franchise history. YOR has been a tough opponent in the last year for VFC, closing out the club’s inaugural season with a record of 1-4-0 but VFC will be looking to repeat history at York Lions Stadium tonight.

A Return ‘Home’: VFC’s off-season signings Paris Gee and Niko Giantsopoulos will return to York Lions Stadium for the first time since moving out West. Gee spent two seasons with YOR where he registered three assists in 36 games played and in 2023 set new club records for wins and points that year. Giantsopoulos spent the last three seasons with YOR where he made 55 appearances for the Nine Stripes and registered 13 clean sheets.

Feeling 30: VFC’s Alejandro ‘Wero’ Díaz is one goal away from recording 30 goals in all CPL competitions (including playoffs). Díaz scored his first goal of 2024 in VFC’s 2-0 win over Halifax Wanderers FC last week and already has two assists on the season.
