Rowdies Forrest Lasso, Danny Crisostomo Named to Team of the Week

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla – The USL Championship revealed the Team of the Week for Week 7 of the 2024 regular season on Tuesday, with Tampa Bay Rowdies defender Forrest Lasso and midfielder Danny Crisostomo both earning spots for their performance in the club’s 1-1 draw with El Paso Locomotive FC.

Lasso put in a stellar defensive shift for the Rowdies. The veteran center back won 4 of 4 tackles, 7 of 7 aerial duels, and 6 of 7 ground duels while also recording two chances created and one shot on target versus El Paso. Now in his fourth season with the Rowdies, Lasso has appeared in 91 matches for the club across all competitions.

A newcomer to the Rowdies this year, Crisostomo was a steady presence for the squad in the center of the field against El Paso. Crisostomo recorded his first assist of the year, delivering a cross on a platter for Manuel Arteaga’s second-half equalizer to help secure a point for the Rowdies. The 27-year-old midfielder also completed 54 of 58 pass passes, won 5 of 6 tackles, created two chances, and hit the woodwork with his own low strike early in the first half.

Next up, the Rowdies put their six-match unbeaten start to the season up against New Mexico United this Saturday at Al Lang Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, with a postmatch fireworks show for fans set to take place after the final whistle. The match will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network. USL Championship Team of the Week – Week 7

GK – Jahmali Waite, El Paso Locomotive FC: The Jamaican international recorded seven saves to lead Locomotive in a 1-1 draw against the Tampa Bay Rowdies with a -1.81 Goals Prevented mark at Al Lang Stadium.

D – Sean Totsch, Louisville City FC: The veteran center back had a stellar display in LouCity’s 1-0 victory against Loudoun United FC, winning 4 of 5 ground duels, 2 of 2 aerial duels and recording three interceptions and 10 recoveries while completing 70 of 81 passes.

D – Forrest Lasso, Tampa Bay Rowdies: Lasso put in an outstanding defensive display for the Rowdies, winning 4 of 4 tackles, 7 of 7 aerial duels and 6 of 7 ground duels while also recording two chances created and one shot as a target on attacking set pieces against El Paso Locomotive FC.
