SETTING THE SCENE:

Forward Madison FC is playing in their first USL Jägermeister Cup match against Lexington SC on Sunday, April 28th. The match kicks off in Kentucky at 3pm CT.

This is the first year of the USL Jägermeister Cup, an in-season tournament of all 12 clubs in the League. There will be three groups of four clubs each, built to emphasize regional rivalries. Each club will play a total of eight matches in their respective group play – four home and four away.

Each club will play their groupmates twice, plus play an additional two matches against two different clubs from another group, based on geographic proximity. Group play will determine the four teams that will advance to the knockout round. All cup matches will take place during dedicated match weeks throughout the season.

HISTORY WITH LEXINGTON

The ‘Mingos were unbeaten against Lexington in 2023, taking home one win and two ties. Out of the three matches, Forward scored five goals, all scored by five different players who have returned this year.

‘MINGOS LAST MATCH RECAP

Forward played their 2024 regular-season Home Opener last Saturday, tying against Henny Derby rivals, Richmond Kickers, 2-2. The match was aggressive from start to finish. Long-time Mingo, Derek Gebhard, scored his second goal of the season and newcomer Agustín Dávila netted his first goal in the pink and blue.

3,852 fans flocked to Breese for the sixth Forward Madison Home Opener.

If Forward can win the middle early, they’ll be able to set up key players like Devin Boyce.

Reunite with Jayden Onen. Despite being low on minutes the last few games, Onen is an attacking threat that Forward remembers all too well.

Tighten their defense. With starting center back Timmy…
