A Manchester United transfer target has named the club as a foreign side he would love to play for some day, despite turning down their advances for two years.

Erik ten Hag‘s Man United have struggled in the Premier League this season, and an early exit from the Champions League means that there will be high expectations for improvement in the summer.  

Certain attacking options are set to depart Old Trafford in the summer, and it means that the club might return to previous targets to complete their squad – if they are finally willing to make the jump to the Premier League.

In a TikTok Q&A with the Dutch edition of Men’s Health magazine, Ajax’s Brian Brobbey was asked to name a foreign club he’d love to play for.

He replied: ‘Real Madrid is a great club, but so are Arsenal and Manchester United.’

Brobbey, 22, came through the academy ranks at Ajax, and was handed his senior debut by ten Hag back in 2020.

He has been strongly linked to Man United ever since the Dutchman moved across to manage the Red Devils in 2022, and turned down a move to Old Trafford that year despite receiving a personal phone call from ten Hag trying to persuade him. 

He was thought to have been a shortlisted option the following summer, whilst in January of this year, Brobbey played down reports of an imminent move

At the time, he said: ‘I have no contact with Erik [ten Hag]. 

‘We used to text through WhatsApp, but I think Erik is busy. I have a new number as well.’ 

Arsenal chief Edu included Brobbey on a list of 10 potential strikers for the club back in March, alongside Ivan Toney, Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres.
