Ontario, Calif. – The Major Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) today unveiled its selection of the top players of the 2023-24 regular season along with its individual awards as voted on by media, team officials, and broadcasters. Empire Strykers star Marco Fabián earned one of the coveted spots on the MASL Elite Six, in addition to being honored as the MASL Newcomer of the Year.

Fabián, 34, was announced as the Strykers’ newest player on December 4, 2023, in a watershed moment for professional indoor soccer. He has since continued to make history, boasting a 2.2 points-per-game average in 21 appearances and bagging 35 goals en route to sharing the MASL Golden Boot with Kansas City Comets forward Zach Reget. Midfielder Fabián’s heroics have been all the more impressive given his young Strykers team finished last in the Western Conference following a radical offseason roster overhaul geared toward future success.

A genuine star of the outdoor game, Fabián, who has been capped 43 times by Mexico, played in both the 2014 and the 2018 FIFA World Cups. In the early stages of his professional career, the attacker impressed at the 2012 Olympic Summer Games in London, his five goals helping El Tri claim the gold medal.

At the club level, Fabián reached legendary status with Chivas de Guadalajara of his native country between 2007 and 2015, suiting up nearly 200 times for the goats. Other career stops include Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt, with whom the Mexican won the domestic DFB Pokal in 2018, as well as Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit Philadelphia Union and three more Mexican first division teams in Cruz Azul (on loan from Chivas), FC Juárez, and Mazatlán FC.
