Colorado Rapids News Release

The Colorado Rapids prepare to defend DICK’S Sporting Goods Park against FC Dallas when the Texas side travels to altitude for Matchday 10. Kickoff is set 7:30 p.m. MT (Apple TV-MLS Season Pass, Altitude Sports Radio 92.5AM).

The Rapids enter the home contest following two unbeaten road results against Inter Miami CF and FC Dallas. Their 2-2 draw with Inter Miami CF in the two team’s historic first meeting saw goals from Rafael Navarro and Cole Bassett, and the 3-0 shutout against San Jose saw a brace from Navarro and a goal from Bassett. The win in the Bay Area marked the first shutout of 2024 for goalkeeper Zack Steffen, as he made five saves over a total 24 shots taken by the Earthquakes.

Both Navarro and Steffen earned MLS Team of the Matchday honors for their performances at PayPal Park.

Multiple Rapids reached career milestones in the contest with the Earthquakes. On top of Steffen’s first shutout and Navarro’s first brace, Bassett tied Dillon Serna for the most appearances recorded by a Homegrown Player in club history with 105. 2024 MLS SuperDraft pick Wayne Frederick made his MLS debut, subbing on in stoppage time. Striker Calvin Harris recorded his 50th appearance in MLS, and the win extended Colorado’s road unbeaten streak to four matches.

FC Dallas heads into the match off a scoreless draw with Seattle Sounders FC at Toyota Stadium. The Texas side has conceded 10 goals since the beginning of the season but held two clean sheets in the last two matches. The Rapids will aim to take advantage of Dallas’ defensive lapses on Saturday, as they are currently fifth in goals scored in the Western Conference. Colorado holds the advantage in the two teams’ record at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park with a 20-9-11 record and bested the Dallas 2-1 last July, owing to goals from Andreas Maxsø and Braian Galván.

Saturday’s match marks the 28th anniversary weekend of the two sides’ first meeting in MLS, where the Rapids bested Dallas 3-1 following a brace from Marcelo Balboa and a goal from Shaun Bartlett on April 21st at the Rapids’ old home base, Mile High Stadium.
