Leesburg, VA – Loudoun United FC (LUFC) and the Virginia Department of Forestry have announced a season-long partnership, effective immediately, lasting the remainder of the 2024 USL Championship season. Under the new partnership, the Virginia Department of Forestry will aid in planting one tree in Loudoun County for every goal scored by Loudoun United FC.

“We are thrilled to launch a partnership with the Virginia Department of Forestry to help develop healthy, sustainable forests,” said Doug Raftery, Executive Business Officer of Loudoun United FC. “From launching a recycling program to now helping plant trees in our own backyard – we are committed to our social responsibility of sustainability.”

The project is part of a lead-up to LUFC’s April 20 Sustainability Match, against Louisville City FC.

“The Virginia Department of Forestry is looking forward to collaborating with Loudoun United FC to help give back to the community and environment,” said Lindsey Long, Community Forestry Specialist-Rappahannock District. “Through this project, we also help to educate more people about the trees in their own community.”

Fans can keep track of the trees being planted in our community through the LUFC Tree Tracker, found at https://www.loudoununitedfc.com/lufc-tree-tracker/. It is Loudoun United FC’s goal to keep our community beautiful and promote a clean and sustainable future.
