NEW YORK – The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) today announced the hiring of Matt Soloff as Senior Vice President of Business Development. In this role, Soloff will lead the development and implementation of new marketing partnerships driving the objectives of the league including revenue generation and fan engagement, reporting directly to NWSL Chief Marketing & Commercial Officer Julie Haddon.

Soloff, who started with the NWSL earlier this month, joins the league from the National Basketball Association (NBA), where he led various business development and strategy initiatives including the development of the NBA’s commercial interests around its first ever In-Season Tournament. He previously led corporate sales at the New York Mets.

“This season has already seen record attendance and a dramatic increase in viewership in the first year of our landmark media rights deal,” said Haddon. “Matt’s impressive track record as a revenue producer will help carry the NWSL into a new era of growth as we continue to bolster our current partnerships and broaden our commercial arm with new partners.”

“I’m excited to join the NWSL during a time of unparalleled growth on and off the field,” Soloff said. “It’s an incredible opportunity to play a part in establishing the commercial vision for the future of our league at such a monumental time for the women’s sports movement.”

Soloff will be based out of the league’s New York headquarters. He earned an undergraduate degree in Sports Studies from Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.
