Overview
Miami FC and South Georgia Tormenta FC will face for the first time ever, Wednesday, April 17, in the third round of the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. This will be Miami’s entrance to this year’s tournament and Tormenta’s third match of the cup.
Miami FC
Last year, Miami entered the U.S. Open Cup in the second round where they played Jacksonville Armada in their opening match. Miami FC won the match 3-1 and advanced to the third round.
Their following opponent was MLS’ Inter Miami CF. It was a close game that resulted in Inter Miami winning the game 4-3 in penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw, taking Miami FC out of the Open Cup.
Opponent: South Georgia Tormenta FC
South Georgia Tormenta FC has had a solid start to their 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup campaign thus far.
They took their first win against USSL team, FC America CFL Spurs, 1-0. The following round they beat NISA’s Savannah Clovers FC 4-0, advancing to the third round.
