CHICAGO – The Chicago Red Stars’ undefeated streak came to an end tonight after a 0-1 loss to Angel City FC. An unlucky touch by defender, Maximiliane Rall, led to an own goal that gave the Los Angeles side their first victory of the season. Chicago will look to bounce back in Seattle next week as they take on the Reign in their second matchup of the season.

KEY MOMENTS:

18′ Chicago’s Sam Staab sends a ball into LA’s 18-yard box off a throw in that finds the head of Ally Schlegel who flicks it to Penelope Hocking who heads it toward goal, but the attempt goes wide of the net

32′ Angel City get a clear shot at Chicago’s net that trickles toward the open net, but a charging Tatumn Milazzo makes a goal line save to keep things even

40′ Angel City strike first off a free kick into Chicago’s 18-yard box that takes an unlucky bounce off of Maxi Rall and finds the back of the net, 0-1 Angel City FC

54′ Chicago lob a ball into Angel City’s box that finds the head of Ally Schlegel who, in turn, sends it toward goal, but it ricochets off the crossbar and is cleared by Los Angeles, 0-1 Angel City

62′ Chicago’s Sam Staab sends a strong cross into Angel City’s box that finds Jenna Bike waiting on the back post, but the forward’s header sends the ball wide of the goal, 0-1 Angel City
