GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. – Minnesota United this weekend plays host to Houston Dynamo FC in a battle of teams near the top of the Western Conference table. Last week, MNUFC came from behind to capture a crucial point against Real Salt Lake, on the back of an 87th minute goal by substitute striker Tani Oluwaseyi. The Loons remain unbeaten at home at the start of this season, and are looking to continue to earn results and points in front of the Allianz Field crowd.

Meanwhile, Houston Dynamo FC enters Saturday night’s match having lost on the road to Chicago Fire FC by a 1-2 score. That loss last weekend broke Houston’s three-game win streak, keeping the club at 10 points, but still within arm’s reach of a top-five standing in the Western Conference table. Though the Dynamo might be missing Mexican star Hector Herrera to injury, midfielder Coco Carrasquilla continues to be a threat to opposing squads across the league.

Historically, the Loons currently hold a nine-game unbeaten streak in MLS regular-season action against the Dynamo, which also includes a current seven-game win streak within that unbeaten run. With both teams looking to continue to climb to the top of the conference standings, Saturday will likely be a closely-contested fixture between the sides during this first quarter of the campaign.

Then you’ve got sort of the youthful, enthusiastic components of the squad which you see in late stages of the game. We’re definitely a team that will take games right up until the wire. I think that’s really important in MLS because typically games are close and they are tight, you never feel you are out of game. To have that spirit you can rely on the latter stages is big for us and something I really want to reinforce.”

DEFENDER DEVIN PADELFORD ON FACING HOUSTON DYNAMO FC AT HOME…

“I think it being a home match, bring[ing] the energy, there’s always extra motivation when you’re playing in front of those fans. Just bring the energy and again, we’ve got to start taking in ideas from training and executing them on the field. I think if we do all those things,…
