Man City vs Luton: Preview, predictions and lineups

Kevin De Bruyne

Manchester City face Luton Town in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as they look to put pressure on their title rivals.

The reigning champions are currently third in an incredibly tight three-horse title race, but could capitalise on potential dropped points this weekend when Arsenal face Aston Villa and Liverpool host Crystal Palace.

The Cityzens were in action midweek and drew 3-3 in a thrilling Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid, with Pep Guardiola perhaps having one eye on the return fixture this coming Wednesday.

An injury-hit Luton will not be relishing a trip to the Etihad, a venue where no away team has won this season. The Hatters were hammered 6-2 in the FA Cup in the most recent meeting between the sides, conceding five to Erling Haaland.

Here is 90min’s preview of Man City vs Luton on Saturday.

Guardiola has a few absentees to contend with ahead of Luton’s visit but he should be able to welcome back Kevin De Bruyne, who missed the Champions League clash on Tuesday through sickness.

Phil Foden picked up a dead leg during the game against Madrid but is also in line to recover in time for Luton. However, both Kyle Walker and Nathan Ake should still miss out in the defence due to injuries.

Man City predicted lineup vs Luton Town (3-2-4-1): Ederson; Stones, Dias, Akanji; Lewis Rodri; Bobb, Foden, Alvarez, Doku; Haaland.

Elijah Adebayo

Luton’s already small squad has been decimated by injuries in recent weeks and Rob Edwards has a mountain of issues to contend with ahead of a trip to the Etihad.

A number of players are already out for the rest of the season, including Tom Lockyer, Marvelous Nakamba and Amari’i Bell, while the likes of Elijah Adebayo and Chiedozie Ogbene are also missing for the Hatters.
