Monterey Bay FC News Release

MONTEREY, Calif. – Monterey Bay Football Club (Monterey Bay F.C.) forward Chase Boone surprised York School in Monterey, California with a visit to the school’s campus on Tuesday, April 8. York School is the first to take advantage of Monterey Bay Football Club’s Adopt a Player initiative, a function of the Club’s larger Community of Schools program for 2024.

As part of the program, York School choir students wrote personalized letters to Boone that were delivered straight to his locker as a pleasant surprise before the Club’s home-opening match on March 16. Boone then responded with a personalized thank you video before making a surprise visit to the school itself. The class and Boone both shared a bit about themselves, followed by Boone asking the class questions with signed mini soccer balls going to those in the class who answered correctly. Afterwards, the class choir sang for Boone to thank him for his visit.

“I was so excited to go to York School,” said Boone. “I think the Adopt a Player program is great. I was able to meet a lot of the students and actually listen to the choir – they were amazing. I can’t wait to hear them do the national anthem for us later this season.”
