HARRISON, N.J – New York Red Bulls II (1-0-1 5 pts.) are gearing up for their Second Round matchup in the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup against New York City FC II (0-1-1 1 pt.) at Belson Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage available on USSoccer.com.

In what will be the first edition of the New York Derby in 2024 for New York Red Bulls II and New York City FC II, there is no shortage of anticipation for tomorrow’s match. That anticipation only grows after adding that the match is win-or-go-home in the Second Round of the U.S. Open Cup.

New York City FC II had the edge in the season series last year, posting a 2-1-0 record against Red Bulls II. Tomorrow’s match will be the first of two matchups at Belson Stadium between these clubs over the next ten days, with a New York Derby set for April 10th in MLS NEXT Pro play. These two will clash twice more this season, once on June 1st at Belson Stadium yet again, and then finally on August 11th at MSU Soccer Park.

Just four days prior to Tuesday’s Derby, New York had a thrilling victory over FC Cincinnati 2 in the MLS NEXT Pro regular season. Forward Roald Mitchell bagged a brace, including a 90th minute winner to seal all three points in a 3-2 victory on the road at NKU Stadium.

New York Red Bulls II have been in top form over their last four matches as they head into tomorrow’s contest. The club is 3-0-1 across all competitions, one of which being a 5-1 victory over the Hudson Valley Hammers in the tournament’s first round on March 20 at MSU Soccer Park. Red Bulls II had five different goal scorers in the match, including Dylan Sullivan, Mohammed Sofo, Aiden Jarvis, Malick Dembele, and Ibrahim Kasule.

NYCFC II are entering the match with a 1-1-1 record to start their 2024 campaign. The home side reached the second round of this tournament after a 3-0 victory over FC Motown on March 21, also in Montclair, at MSU Soccer Park. Taylor Calheira, Andrew Baiera, and Maximo Carrizo recorded the goals for New York City against the NPSL side.

Coverage for tomorrow’s match is available on USSoccer.com, NewYorkRedBulls.com, and the New York Red Bulls App.
