Gotham FC to Commemorate NWSL Championship at April 14 Home Match

HARRISON, NJ – In honor of NJ/NY Gotham FC winning the 2023 National Women’s Soccer League Championship, the first in club history, the team today announced it will celebrate with a special banner unveiling and ring ceremony at the regular season home opener against the KC Current on Sunday, April 14 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.

The celebration begins at 2:30 p.m. outside Gate B, where the Gotham FC Fan Fest presented by CarMax will feature a block party atmosphere to get Red Bull Arena rocking. Highlights of the new interactive fan experience include live entertainment, a photo opportunity with the 2023 NWSL Championship Trophy, and a chance to join small-sided games on the Mini Pitch powered by RWJBarnabas Health, the official healthcare provider of Gotham FC.

The ceremonial proceedings will culminate with the unveiling of a permanent in-stadium banner that will prominently display Gotham FC as 2023 NWSL Champions in Legends Row.

Special guests will also be on hand to lead and celebrate the festivities. Those individuals will be announced at a later date.

Kickoff for the match featuring Gotham FC vs. KC Current is set for 6 p.m. ET. Tickets to the highly-anticipated home opener with championship celebration are available at GothamFC.com.

Gotham FC won the 2023 NWSL Championship after defeating Seattle Reign 2-1 on Nov. 11 at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. Gotham FC goals were scored by U.S. Women’s National Team forward Lynn Williams and reigning 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup champion Esther of Spain, with both assists dished out by USWNT forward Midge Purce, who earned MVP of the title game. The match also served as the final match of legendary Gotham FC and USWNT defender Ali Krieger’s storied and decorated career.
