RENTON, WASH. – Sounders FC and its official charitable partner RAVE Foundation today announced that the club is joining the Northwest African American Museum (NAAM) to host Sounders FC Day this Saturday, March 30 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. PT.

This special event is being held as part of Sounders FC’s Women’s History Month celebrations and offers free admission to the museum for the first 200 fans wearing Sounders FC gear. A wide variety of activations are scheduled including book and soccer ball giveaways for youth, film screenings, story time, a special appearance by Sounders FC mascot Sammy the Sounder, and more. All museum visitors on Sounders Day have the opportunity to be entered to win a player-autographed Sounders Anniversary Kit jersey.

As part of Sounders FC and NAAM’s Books & Balls program, youth attending Sounders Day can receive both a free book and free soccer ball. Provided by NAAM, the books feature stories of Black women and girls, written and illustrated by Black woman artists and, to pair with the book, RAVE Foundation provides a new soccer ball. The Books & Balls program reinforces Sounders FC’s and RAVE Foundation’s belief in using soccer as a vehicle to include, educate and inspire children while defending the right to play by removing barriers to participation for all young people.

For special refreshments during the day, Swagg-N-Wagon, a woman-owned and Black-owned food truck serving delicious fried chicken in the Pacific Northwest, will be onsite. Sounders FC and Intentionalist encourage those eating at Swagg-N-Wagon to upload their receipts to Intentionalist.com as part of March’s Receipt and Receive campaign for a chance to win Sounders FC prizes.

At 10:30 a.m. PT, a screening of “Pelé: Birth of a Legend” is available for visitors. The 2016 biographical film tells the story about the early life of Brazilian footballer Pelé and his journey with Brazil to win the 1958 FIFA World Cup.

Later in the afternoon at 1:00 p.m. PT, museum visitors are invited to join a free interactive story time of the book “Happy Like Soccer,” written by Maribeth Boelts and illustrated by Lauren Castillo. “Happy Like Soccer” is a warm story featuring a young girl who finds a way to bring together the two things that make her most happy: soccer and family.

From 1:30-2:15 p.m. PT, children ages 3-7 can take part in RAVE Foundation’s First Kicks soccer clinic. First Kicks…
