Manchester United have reportedly made a huge call over Mason Greenwood‘s future following talks with loan club Getafe. 

Getafe have been eager to tie Greenwood down to another loan after his haul of eight goals and five assists.

The forward, 22, was charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour in October 2022, but the charges and case were dropped in February 2023 when key witnesses withdrew. 

He has become a popular figure at Getafe and his performances have attracted the eyes of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, who are prepared to fight for his signature.  Mail Sport understands the latter are following him particularly keenly.

The answer? 

A resounding no. 

The Red Devils do not want to let him leave temporarily again and are only focused on securing a permanent deal of around £34million. 

There is also the possibility of him returning to Old Trafford. 

New part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe last month left the door open to Greenwood returning – despite the club’s previous indication that he would not play for them again.

He said: ‘It’s a fresh decision. I can talk about the principle. I am not going to talk about Mason. I am familiar with it. The principle is the important one. We will have other issues going forwards.

‘You are dealing with young people who have not always been brought up in the best circumstances, who have a lot of money and they don’t always have the guidance they should have.

‘What we need to do when have issues like that is understand real affects not the hype then we need to make a fair decision in the light of the club’s values. That’s…
