CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carolinas’ newest women’s professional soccer team announced its official team name and unveiled its club branding today. The Charlotte-based team will represent the Carolinas, proudly carrying the name of the Carolina Ascent Football Club.
On May 16, 2023, it was announced that a new Division I professional women’s soccer team would plant roots in the Carolinas. Carolina Ascent FC, formerly Super League Carolina, is one of the eight inaugural franchises to launch with the USL Super League, the world’s newest Division I women’s professional soccer league, which is set to kick off in August 2024.
The Carolina Ascent FC brand tells the story of a club that’s on a quest for greatness and is committed to reaching new heights for women’s soccer across the Carolinas. The club will continue to embrace the journey, step by step, creating an unmatched soccer experience with direct input from the region’s most passionate soccer fans.

Carolina Ascent FC will kick off its inaugural season this August at the iconic American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. The venue is located in the Elizabeth neighborhood on the corner of 7th Street and Charlottetowne Avenue, just minutes away from Uptown, Plaza Midwood and Myers Park. The game day experience is enhanced with striking Charlotte city skyline views that rise from behind the North end goal.
The stadium boasts a capacity for 10,500 Carolina Ascent FC fans, and its unique “U” shape hovers over the pitch engaging fans in every aspect of the match from player warmups to halftime entertainment and post-game autograph sessions.
