Oakland, CA – Oakland Roots and Soul SC announces a new partnership with Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union 342 (UA Local 342) as the Official Plumbers and Steamfitters Union of the club. The 2024 partnership will see UA Local 342 signage in the stadium and on Oakland Roots Broadcast.
“The East Bay has a long, deep history of strong labor unions with highly skilled craftspeople who build and service our community,” Oakland Roots Vice President, Brand Partnerships Andrea Lepore said. “We’re honored to partner with UA Local 342 and highlight their commitment to all of their members living and working in our neighborhoods.”
UA Local 342 is celebrating their 110th Anniversary this year, having been chartered into the United Association of Journeyman and Apprentices in the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada in 1914. It began with twenty-one charter members who sought a shorter work-day, wage increases, and better working conditions. Those original members endured adverse conditions that are well documented in the history of the American Labor Movement. What started as a small band of steamfitters grew to encompass workers in the welding, pipeline, refrigeration, and plumbing trades.
